Vaping Cleanliness

So how clean is vaping compared to smoking cigarettes?

As you may be aware smoking cigarettes indoors causes the yellowing of most things white such as, Ceilings & woodwork like door fames, skirting boards and cupboards, and of course along with smoking comes the smell which will get trapped into fabrics such as, curtains, sofas and cushions, but what about vaping indoors?

Well, vaping indoors is most certainly more ‘hygenic’ compared to smoking inside, however, vaping indoors does still come with it’s own drawbacks and the biggest one being ‘steamy windows’.

So why do the windows get ‘steamy’? Well when you vape you inhale vapour more specifically an ‘oily’ vapour, So when you exhale that booming cloud of vape it lingers around and settles onto ‘most surfaces’ but it’s mostly noticeable on windows. Note that i mentioned most surfaces, that’s because like cigarette smoke exhaled vapour will also build up on other surfaces such as glossy door frames/doors and plastics (mainly surfaces that are non pourous).

If you vape indoors and have noticed that your windows have ‘steamed up’ go and take a look at your door frames and plastics, like upvc window frames you may notice if you look close enough that they appear greasy, and if you touch them usually you can feel the greasynnes on them too.

How can i stop or clean vapour covered surfaces?

Let’s start by listing some points on how to prevent vapour build up.

  • Open a window to allow vapour to escape.
  • Use a device that produces minimal vapour when indoors, such as a diposable device which you can find here.
  • Use vapour free e-liquids like the ones here.
  • Get yourself a personal vapour filter, take a look we sell them here.
  • Buy an air purifier, you can pick them up at reasonable prices.

So now that we’ve looked at the best ways to prevent vapour build up let’s find out how to go about cleaning it.

If you have got vapour build up on your windows or anything glass such as mirrors, the best way to clean them is with a suitable window cleaner. (you can buy a bottle of spray window cleaner for usually a few quid). Genrously spray the glass with a window cleaning solution then give it a good rub all over with a microfibre cloth, then wipe of the solutions with a dry microfiber cloth. Or for the best results i would reccommend using something like a karcher window vac, they’re quick and really easy to use.

What about vapour build up on other surfaces such as plastics, glossy door frames and doors? Well, the best way to clean these would be a general purpose surface cleaner (without bleach) or you could just use some warm soapy water, a quick wipe over with a soapy microfiber cloth will easily remove any vapour build up.

Overall

So, we have looked at a few differences here and in conclusion vaping indoors is definitly more ‘clean’ than smoking indoors. The vapour smell doesn’t tend to attach to fabrics and is far easier to clean than nicotine staining from cigarettes.

CBD Products

So What Is CBD And CBD Products?

CBD, short for cannabidiol, is a chemical compound from the Cannabis sativa plant, whish is also known as marijuana or hemp.

It’s a naturally occurring substance that’s used in products like oils and edibles to impart a feeling of relaxation and calm. Unlike its cousin, tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), which is the major active ingredient in marijuana, CBD is not psychoactive.

The cannabis plant is made up of two main properties: CBD and THC. CBD is the non-psychoactive portion of the plant, so that means you won’t have any effects like euphoria.

What Health Benefits Come With CBD?

  • Could reduce depression and anxiety. CBD oil has shown promise as a treatment for both depression and anxiety, leading many who live with these disorders to become interested in this natural approach.
  • Can help relieve pain. Studies have shown that CBD may help reduce chronic pain by impacting endocannabinoid receptor activity, reducing inflammation and interacting with neurotransmitters.
  • May help to reduce acne. Based on scientific studies, CBD oil may help treat acne due to its anti-inflammatory properties and ability to reduce sebum production.
  • May help with neurological disorders. one of the most studied uses for CBD is in treating neurological disorders like epilepsy and multiple sclerosis. Though research in this area is still relatively new, several studies have shown promising results. One study found that Sativex (an oral CBD spray) reduced spasms in 75% of 276 people with multiple sclerosis who were experiencing muscle spasticity that was resistant to medications.
  • Could help benefit heart health. research has linked CBD with several benefits for the heart and circulatory system, including the ability to lower high blood pressure. One recent study treated nine healthy men with one dose of 600 mg of CBD oil and found it reduced resting blood pressure, compared to a placebo.

Are There Any Side Effects?

Though CBD is generally well tolerated and considered safe, it may cause adverse reactions in some people.

Some side effects could include:

  • Diarrhea
  • Changes in weight and appetite
  • Fatigue
  • Nausea

CBD is also known to interact with several medications. Before you start using CBD oil, discuss it with your doctor.

Vaping And Ohm’s

Vaping and ohm’s. Firstly what are ohm’s? It is the resistance of coils used in atomizers that is measured in ohms. This tells us the amount of current the coil will allow to pass through it. Vaping with coils above 1.0 ohm is called MTL (mouth to lung) vaping. Which is meant to replicate smoking a real cigarette. Vaping with coils below 1.0 ohm is called DTL (direct to lung), also known as sub ohm vaping.

High Ohm’s Vs Low Ohm’s Explained

Higher ohm’s is anything above 1.0 ohm. Usually vaping at 1.0 ohm or higher will result in a cooler vape. And vaping below 1.0 ohm will result in a warmer vape. So we know that ohm’s can affect the temperature of our e-liquid but what else can it affect?. Well it can also affect the flavour of the e-liquid, It depends on the e-liquid itself as to how it is affected. Sometimes it may taste bland or richer depending on the ohms. The best way to get the best taste from your vape is to try different ohm coils. Although it is said that using lower ohm coils increases flavour.

Furthermore using coils below 1.0 ohm will drain your battery quicker than coils above 1.0 ohm. However it also depends on how often you use your vape. Also sub ohm vaping (below 1.0 ohm’s) will produce a bigger vape cloud as apposed to vaping above 1.0 ohm’s.

What Wattage Should I Use For My Coil?

The wattage you use for your coil always depends on the coil you have bought. Always make sure to check your coil, it will usually say on it what wattage is best. Usually it states between two numbers e.g Best between 25w and 50w. it is then up to you to find the sweet spot between those numbers to get the best flavour from that coil. Never go over the wattage stated on a coil, this will most likely cause the coil to burn, damaging it and giving you a nasty throat hit. Also vaping below the recommended wattage probably wont damage the coil. But you wont get anything from it as it simply wont have enough power passing through it to power it.

Want to learn more about sub ohm vaping? Take a look at this link https://www.vapethis.uk/what-is-sub-ohm-vaping

What Is Sub Ohm Vaping?

Sub ohm vaping produces much larger volumes of vapour or clouds. Because of the style of vaping kits used. Vapers tend to use an inhalation method known as Direct To Lung or DTL vaping. This method is different to how most people smoke a cigarette (although not all). When you smoke, you generally use a Mouth To Lung or MTL inhale. This describes the process of breathing smoke into your mouth and then drawing it into your lungs before exhaling. Direct To Lung vaping involves carrying smoke or vapour deep into the lungs in one inhalation before then exhaling. In effect, the main reason that sub ohm vaping is not recommended to new vapers is because it involves a style of inhaling they’re probably not used to. Which is why some people report heavy coughing when first trying vaping.

If you’ve just made the switch to vaping we recommend to picks a starter vape kit that will help them replicate how they smoke, this makes the transition far easier. However there may come a point where you want to experience a higher volume of vapour/clouds and use a lower nicotine strength, this is when sub ohm vaping becomes a good option.

Take a look at our new to vaping guide for more help: https://www.vapethis.uk/new-to-vaping

How Safe Is Sub Ohm Vaping?

Like all types of vaping it is still considered 95% less harmful than smoking. There are no additional ingredients in the e-liquid just generally more VG. Neither are there any changes to how your body processes the vapour. It’s simply the case that there’s more vapour or ‘cloud’.

Vaping And Coronavirus (COVID-19)

The evidence on smoking, vaping and coronavirus (COVID-19) is mixed and developing. On the available evidence, it is advised:

  • if you smoke, you generally have an increased risk of contracting respiratory infection and of more severe symptoms once infected. COVID-19 symptoms may, therefore, be more severe if you smoke
  • stopping smoking will bring immediate benefits to your health, including if you have an existing smoking-related disease. This is particularly important for both you and for our NHS at a time of intense pressure on the health service
  • e-cigarettes (vapes) can be an effective aid to stopping smoking and staying smokefree
  • it is currently unknown what effect vaping may have on susceptibility to severe disease if you are infected with COVID-19
  • for most people vaping remains significantly less harmful than smoking and it is very important that you avoid returning to smoking
  • visit Smokefree for information and advice on stopping smoking

Vaping and COVID-19

E-cigarettes (vapes) can be an effective aid to stopping smoking and staying smokefree. The evidence on the health risks of e-cigarettes is still developing. However, it is clear that vaping is far less harmful to the respiratory system than smoking. There is very little evidence on vaping and COVID-19 and it is unknown whether vaping makes you more susceptible to severe disease if you become infected. If it does, the risk is likely to be much less than if you smoke.

Vaping remains much less harmful than smoking for most people and it is very important that you avoid returning to smoking.

Vaping involves repetitive hand-to-face movements, which provide greater risk of a route of entry into the body for viruses. To reduce the risk of contact with COVID-19, you should:

  • wash your hands more frequently than usual, for 20 seconds, with soap and water (or use hand sanitiser if soap is not available)
  • clean your e-cigarette regularly

Public Health England (PHE) strongly advises against sharing any vaping devices.

PHE’s 2018 independent e-cigarette evidence review found that, to date, there have been no identified health risks of passive vaping to bystanders. There is currently no evidence that COVID-19 can be caught from passive exposure to e-cigarette vapour, but in the absence of evidence, we recommend that vapers avoid exhaling clouds of vapour in the presence of others.

Salt Nicotine shots Or Freebase Nicotine?

Which one do i choose? Freebase nicotine (normal) or Salt nicotine? Firstly we’ll explain what nicotine is and where it comes from.

What Is Nicotine And Where Does It Come From?

Nicotine is a stimulant drug that speeds up the messages travelling between the brain and body. It’s highly addictive yet relatively harmless. Additionally it is an alkaloid found in the nightshade family of plants. Predominantly in the tobacco plant, and in lower quantities in tomato, potato, and green pepper.

Ok so now we have a better understanding of nicotine. Now lets talk about the differences between freebase and salt nicotine.

What’s The Difference?

Salt nicotine produces a faster absorption rate into the body, compared to freebase nicotine. This results in a nicotine hit that satisfies cravings for longer, as well as providing a smoother throat hit. As we know nicotine salts occur naturally in tobacco plants. Using them in e-liquid is designed to give the vaper a closer experience to smoking a cigarette. It’s good to know that despite the name there is no sodium in these e-liquids. Therefore they’re not going to taste of salt whatsoever.

You’ll generally find salt nicotine e-liquids in strengths of 10mg and 20mg. Whereas freebase you can find in 10mg, 18mg and 20mg. Salt nicotine’s are often available in 50%-60% VG ratios. Because of this it’s recommended you use salt nics with low powered mouth to lung (mtl) kits, or pod devices for the best experience. Freebase nicotine’s are usually available in 100% VG or PG. Meaning you could potentially get slightly more cloud by using freebase. And is the common choice of nicotine for “serious” vapers. However if you’re just starting out we would recommend using salt nicotine. Seeing that salt nicotine gets into the body quicker this could help with cravings.

New To Vaping? What Should I Know?

So maybe your new to vaping and want to know what it’s all about, well firstly it’s important to have the right information, Here we’ll try to provide you with everything you need to get started with vaping without overloading you with the information you don’t need.

Lets talk about what vaping is.

Vaping has been designed to be a less harmful alternative to smoking. Using a vape will still satisfy your nicotine cravings, but without the harmful side effects associated with cigarettes. If you’re not a smoker or you’re under the age of eighteen, then we don’t recommend you start vaping.

What type of vape should you use first.

To start vaping you’ll need to pick a kit or device and some e-liquid, it is as simple as that. When you’re starting out it’s best to go with something simple and reliable. All vape kits and devices work in pretty much the same way, they all feature a power source and a tank that holds and heats the e-liquid until it vapourises. Lets look at a few different types of vapes.

This Is A Cigalike

Designed to look and act like a cigarette, the cigalike was the traditional vape kit. There are fully disposable versions and pre-filled models, both of which come in different flavors and nicotine strengths.

This Is A Pod Kit

These kits have become popular because they are probably the simplest vape kit available, they are made up of a refillable liquid pod and a battery. Some pod kits use a removable battery so be sure to check before you buy as you may need to get a battery charger as well.

Finally An Open Tank Kit

This is more for the experienced vaper, It has a removable and interchangeable tank, changeable drip tip/mouth piece, removable battery or batteries and more, but we don’t need to go into all that detail.

Now we know a bit of information about some vaping kits we need to make a decision on which kit to choose so for this we’ve made a pro and con list for those 3 types below. (color coordinated table for ease of reading)

Kit

Hopefully the table above will help you in making your first choice of vape kit, Or maybe you feel you still need some questions answered, If that’s the case search our blog for more articles that may help you, Alternatively feel free to post or send a message to our facebook page and we’ll do our best to help. https://www.facebook.com/VapeThisUK

What are e-liquids and are they toxic

E-Liquid also known as E-Juice or Vape-Juice. Is the liquid that is put into the tank of an E-cigarette or ‘vape’. Which then delivers the flavor and nicotine (if using) to the consumer. E-Liquids are made up of just a few ingredients. These include Vegetable glycerine, Propelyne glycol, flavorings and optionally nicotine. Furthermore vegetable glycerine and propelyne glycol are also use in foods, soaps, oils and many other products. It is known to be safe to digest. However the long term effects (if any) on inhaling these substances is yet unknown.

There are some flavors of e-liquid you may want to avoid, and those are any that contain the substance called Diacetyl. This chemical’s added to food to produce a buttery taste and is harmless when ingested this way. However when heated up and inhaled diacetyl has been linked to a respiratory disease called bronchiolitis. Which is also known as “popcorn lung”. This first appeared in workers who inhaled artificial butter flavor in microwave popcorn processing facilities. (Vape This UK does NOT use Diacetyl in any of its products).

Most e-liquids aren’t considered toxic. However e-liquids containing diacetyl can be considered toxic. However cinnamon flavors are thought to be more harmful than others. This isn’t to say that e-liquids aren’t harmful, or that they are harmful. This area is still a bit of an unknown. Certainly e-liquids in conjunction with e-cigarettes are considered a less harmful alternative to smoking cigarettes. This implies vaping should only be taken up by people who smoke cigarettes and want to stop.

If you are a smoker and you are looking to get away from cigarettes and try vaping, you can find even more information on the NHS website or the british heart foundation website (links below).

https://www.nhs.uk/live-well/quit-smoking/using-e-cigarettes-to-stop-smoking/

Also you can contact us if you have any questions regarding vapes and e-liquids (link below).

Why use e-cigarettes instead of actual cigarettes

There are a number of great reasons to change to e-cigarettes (and many people already have) or vaping as we call it.

Firstly, it is much easier to monitor and lower your nicotine level with an e-cigarette. Additionally you don’t inhale or exhale carbon monoxide, tar or other harmful chemicals that come with tobacco cigarettes. For these reasons vaping is considered the healthier alternative by many.

Secondly, vaping can be enjoyed with a wide variety of flavors, Also the ability to change flavor to suit your mood makes this type of smoking a more personal one. Meaning you can tailor your flavor experience every day!. Therefore you cold vape strawberry one day and fresh mint the next. The amount of flavors on offer now are substantial!

Thirdly, when it comes to choosing your e-liquids much more help is offered when trying to make a decision. And unlike tobacco cigarettes, e-liquid is supplied with the information of ingredients it contains, which is good to know. You can find out what ingredients are in e-liquids here: https://www.vapethis.uk/what-are-e-liquids

Lastly, it all comes down to money!. The initial outlay to get vaping will cost a bit more than a pack of cigarettes. But you should save money in the long run. You can get starter kits from around £20. So it’s not much more than a pack of cigarettes. Also you don’t even have to leave the house to get more e-liquid as we’ll happily deliver it to you. And you may notice your clothes smelling fresher, maybe even your home also.

E-cigarettes aren’t designed or to be advertised as being produced to help people quit smoking. It is true that many who try e-liquids and e-cigarettes often choose not to go back to tobacco products. With significantly less nicotine in e-liquids the presumption is that quitting e-cigarettes may be easier than for tobacco cigarette smokers.
